Turning Crisis into Opportunity
A Conference, a Movement, a Way of Life
On Sunday, February 15, 2009 a group of dedicated people -- teachers and housewives, businesspeople and therapists -- gathered at The Stream for a free conference to examine how we can turn the current economic and values crisis into an opportunity. We covered many topics, from how to earn money to how we think about who we are. This was just the beginning. We are already planning another free conference Sunday May 31, and others are in the works in Los Angeles and other venues. We are also planning conferences tailor-made for specific communities, such as schools and businesses.
For many years, those of us committed to the transformation of consciousness have looked for ways to help humanity shift from short-term "me-based" goals to long-term "we-based principles," principles based on the understanding that we are one and that therefore we must find the way to co-create a universe based on the highest good of all, on our highest good physically, emotionally and spiritually. Some heard the call; more ignored it, still comfortable in the old ways, even though they have undermined our short-and long-term wellbeing. The current economic crisis, along with the new administration in Washington, are enabling us all to re-examine our ways of life and reinvent ourselves. This is not a crisis; this is an opportunity, an opportunity to become more aware and integrated, more co-creative and mutually supportive, more happy, productive and satisfied, and more at peace.
